Still Alive achieves zero-impact battery usage by utilizing server-side monitoring rather than local GPS tracking or background processing. The system relies on a lightweight "I'm okay" signal transmitted once per check-in window, ensuring your device remains fully operational for days without the power drain typical of traditional safety apps.
Battery & Reliability
Traditional safety apps fail when your phone dies. Still Alive was designed specifically to solve this problem.
1. Server-Side Monitoring
When you set a check-in window, our server starts its own timer. If your phone runs out of battery, our server continues monitoring. If the window passes without a reset, the alert fires regardless of your phone's power status.
2. No Background GPS
We don't track your movement. We don't run hidden processes in the background. This saves 30-50% more battery compared to apps like Life360 or Google Maps sharing.
For maximum reliability on Android, ensure that Battery Optimization is disabled for Still Alive so you can receive reminders even when your phone is in deep sleep (Doze mode).
